A 1Mbps Real-time NLOS UV Scattering Communication System with Receiver Diversity over 1km
In the non-line of sight (NLOS) ultraviolet (UV) scattering communication, the received signals exhibit the characteristics of discrete photoelectrons due to the extremely large path loss. We design and demonstrate an NLOS UV scattering communication system in this work, where the receiver-side signal detection is designed based on a discrete-time Poisson channel model. In our system, a laser and multiple photomultiplier tubes are employed as the optical transmitter and detector, respectively. Furthermore, we design algorithms for pulse-counting, synchronization, channel estimation and $LLR$ computation for hardware realization in FPGA board. Simulation results are provided to evaluate the proposed system design and specify the system key parameters. We perform field tests for real-time communication with the transmission range over $1$km, where the system throughput reaches $1$Mbps.

Beacon-enabled TDMA Ultraviolet Communication Network System Design and Realization
Nonline of sight (NLOS) ultraviolet (UV) scattering communication can serve as a good candidate for outdoor optical wireless communication (OWC) in the cases of non-perfect transmitter-receiver alignment and radio silenc…
Monte-Carlo Integration Based Multiple-Scattering Channel Modeling for Ultraviolet Communications in Turbulent Atmosphere
Modeling of multiple-scattering channels in atmospheric turbulence is essential for the performance analysis of long-distance non-line-of-sight (NLOS) ultraviolet (UV) communications. Existing works on the turbulent chan…
Ultraviolet Scattering Communication Using Subcarrier Intensity Modulation over Atmospheric Turbulence Channels
A closed-form non-line-of-sight (NLOS) turbulenceinduced fluctuation model is derived for ultraviolet scattering communication (USC), which models the received irradiance fluctuation by Meijer G function. Based on this m…
Path Loss Modeling for NLoS Ultraviolet Channels Incorporating Scattering and Reflection Effects
This paper tackles limitations in existing non-line-of-sight (NLoS) ultraviolet (UV) channel models, where conventional approaches assume obstacle-free propagation or uniform radiation intensity. In this paper, we develo…
Geometry-Based Stochastic Probability Models for the LoS and NLoS Paths of A2G Channels under Urban Scenario
Path probability prediction is essential to describe the dynamic birth and death of propagation paths, and build the accurate channel model for air-to-ground (A2G) communications. The occurrence probability of each path …
