Multialternative Neural Decision Processes

2020-05-03 · Carlo Baldassi, Simone Cerreia-Vioglio, Fabio Maccheroni, Massimo Marinacci 외

We introduce an algorithmic decision process for multialternative choice that combines binary comparisons and Markovian exploration. We show that a preferential property, transitivity, makes it testable.

Factorized Machine Self-Confidence for Decision-Making Agents

2018-10-15 · Brett W. Israelsen, Nisar R. Ahmed, Eric Frew, Dale Lawrence 외

Algorithmic assurances from advanced autonomous systems assist human users in understanding, trusting, and using such systems appropriately. Designing these systems with the capacity of assessing their own capabilities i…

Regular Decision Processes for Grid Worlds

2021-11-05 · Nicky Lenaers, Martijn van Otterlo

Markov decision processes are typically used for sequential decision making under uncertainty. For many aspects however, ranging from constrained or safe specifications to various kinds of temporal (non-Markovian) depend…

Matchings, Predictions and Counterfactual Harm in Refugee Resettlement Processes

2024-05-24 · Seungeon Lee, Nina Corvelo Benz, Suhas Thejaswi, Manuel Gomez-Rodriguez

Resettlement agencies have started to adopt data-driven algorithmic matching to match refugees to locations using employment rate as a measure of utility. Given a pool of refugees, data-driven algorithmic matching utiliz…

A Causal Framework to Measure and Mitigate Non-binary Treatment Discrimination

2025-03-28 · Ayan Majumdar, Deborah D. Kanubala, Kavya Gupta, Isabel Valera

Fairness studies of algorithmic decision-making systems often simplify complex decision processes, such as bail or loan approvals, into binary classification tasks. However, these approaches overlook that such decisions …
