AMuSE-WSD: An All-in-one Multilingual System for Easy Word Sense Disambiguation

2021-11-01 · EMNLP (ACL) 2021 11 · Riccardo Orlando, Simone Conia, Fabrizio Brignone, Francesco Cecconi, Roberto Navigli

Over the past few years, Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) has received renewed interest: recently proposed systems have shown the remarkable effectiveness of deep learning techniques in this task, especially when aided by modern pretrained language models. Unfortunately, such systems are still not available as ready-to-use end-to-end packages, making it difficult for researchers to take advantage of their performance. The only alternative for a user interested in applying WSD to downstream tasks is to rely on currently available end-to-end WSD systems, which, however, still rely on graph-based heuristics or non-neural machine learning algorithms. In this paper, we fill this gap and propose AMuSE-WSD, the first end-to-end system to offer high-quality sense information in 40 languages through a state-of-the-art neural model for WSD. We hope that AMuSE-WSD will provide a stepping stone for the integration of meaning into real-world applications and encourage further studies in lexical semantics. Beyond Bilingual: Multi-sense Word Embeddings using Multilingual Context

2017-06-25 · WS 2017 8 · Shyam Upadhyay, Kai-Wei Chang, Matt Taddy, Adam Kalai 외

Word embeddings, which represent a word as a point in a vector space, have become ubiquitous to several NLP tasks. A recent line of work uses bilingual (two languages) corpora to learn a different vector for each sense o…

Multilingual Word Sense Disambiguation with Unified Sense Representation

2022-10-14 · COLING 2022 10 · Ying Su, Hongming Zhang, Yangqiu Song, Tong Zhang

As a key natural language processing (NLP) task, word sense disambiguation (WSD) evaluates how well NLP models can understand the lexical semantics of words under specific contexts. Benefited from the large-scale annotat…

2019-08-01 · WS 2019 8 · Aless Raganato, ro, Yves Scherrer, J{\"o}rg Tiedemann

Supervised Neural Machine Translation (NMT) systems currently achieve impressive translation quality for many language pairs. One of the key features of a correct translation is the ability to perform word sense disambig…

Mapping WordNet Domains, WordNet Topics and Wikipedia Categories to Generate Multilingual Domain Specific Resources

2014-05-01 · LREC 2014 5 · Sp Gella, ana, Carlo Strapparava, Vivi Nastase

In this paper we present the mapping between WordNet domains and WordNet topics, and the emergent Wikipedia categories. This mapping leads to a coarse alignment between WordNet and Wikipedia, useful for producing domain-…
