Analytical Comparison of Noise Reduction Filters for Image Restoration Using SNR Estimation

2014-12-02 · Poorna Banerjee Dasgupta

Noise removal from images is a part of image restoration in which we try to reconstruct or recover an image that has been degraded by using apriori knowledge of the degradation phenomenon. Noises present in images can be of various types with their characteristic Probability Distribution Functions (PDF). Noise removal techniques depend on the kind of noise present in the image rather than on the image itself. This paper explores the effects of applying noise reduction filters having similar properties on noisy images with emphasis on Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) value estimation for comparing the results.

Cascaded noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation based on an extended noise reduction

2024-06-13 · Arnout Roebben, Toon van Waterschoot, Marc Moonen

In many speech recording applications, the recorded desired speech is corrupted by both noise and acoustic echo, such that combined noise reduction (NR) and acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) is called for. A common cascad…

This paper presents a comprehensive analytical framework for evaluating filtering penalties in ASE-noise-limited coherent optical links. The model accounts for the cumulative effects of cascaded optical filters, amplifie…

Quantitative assessment of linear noise-reduction filters for spectroscopy

2020-10-02 · L. V. Le, Y. D. Kim, D. E. Aspnes

Linear noise-reduction filters used in spectroscopy must strike a balance between reducing noise and preserving lineshapes, the two conflicting requirements of interest.

Speckle Reduction with Adaptive Stack Filters

2013-06-08 · María Elena Buemi, Alejandro C. Frery, Heitor S. Ramos

Stack filters are a special case of non-linear filters. They have a good performance for filtering images with different types of noise while preserving edges and details. A stack filter decomposes an input image into st…
