Claraprint: a chord and melody based fingerprint for western classical music cover detection

2020-09-21 · Mickaël Arcos

Cover song detection has been an active field in the Music Information Retrieval (MIR) community during the past decades. Most of the research community focused in solving it for a wide range of music genres with diverse characteristics. Western classical music, a genre heavily based on the recording of "cover songs", or musical works, represents a large heritage, offering immediate application for an efficient fingerprint algorithm. We propose an engineering approach for retrieving a cover song from a reference database thanks to a fingerprint designed for classical musical works. We open a new data set to encourage the scientific community to use it for further researches regarding this genre.

A Statistical Model for Melody Reduction

2021-05-12 · Tianxue Hu, Claire Arthur

A commonly-cited reason for the poor performance of automatic chord estimation (ACE) systems within music information retrieval (MIR) is that non-chord tones (i.e., notes outside the supporting harmony) contribute to err…

Chord-Conditioned Melody Harmonization with Controllable Harmonicity

2022-02-17 · Shangda Wu, Xiaobing Li, Maosong Sun

Melody harmonization has long been closely associated with chorales composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Previous works rarely emphasised chorale generation conditioned on chord progressions, and there has been a lack of f…

HHL with a Coherent Fourier Oracle: A Proof-of-Concept Quantum Architecture for Joint Melody-Harmony Generation

2026-04-13 · Alexis Kirke arxiv

Quantum algorithms with a proven theoretical speedup over classical computation are rare. Among the most prominent is the Harrow-Hassidim-Lloyd (HHL) algorithm for solving sparse linear systems. Here, HHL is applied to e…

Automatic Melody Harmonization with Triad Chords: A Comparative Study

2020-01-08 · Yin-Cheng Yeh, Wen-Yi Hsiao, Satoru Fukayama, Tetsuro Kitahara 외

Several prior works have proposed various methods for the task of automatic melody harmonization, in which a model aims to generate a sequence of chords to serve as the harmonic accompaniment of a given multiple-bar melo…

Generating Nontrivial Melodies for Music as a Service

2017-10-06 · Yifei Teng, An Zhao, Camille Goudeseune

We present a hybrid neural network and rule-based system that generates pop music. Music produced by pure rule-based systems often sounds mechanical. Music produced by machine learning sounds better, but still lacks hier…
