EGO: a Recursive and Self-Referential Cognitive Architecture for Artificial General Intelligence
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is interpreted as an emergent property of autonomous and self-organizing systems, grounded in the principles of autopoiesis and embodied cognition, overcoming the structural limitations of current Large Language Models (LLMs). We introduce EGO (Environment Generative Operator), a software architecture based on the formal E-language, capable of self-referentiality and of maintaining its internal organization, thereby realizing Maturana's autopoiesis and providing a bridge between artificial intelligence and biological theories of cognition. A Modern Self-Referential Weight Matrix That Learns to Modify Itself
The weight matrix (WM) of a neural network (NN) is its program. The programs of many traditional NNs are learned through gradient descent in some error function, then remain fixed. The WM of a self-referential NN, howeve…
Few-Shot LearningTheoretical Foundations for Semantic Cognition in Artificial Intelligence
This monograph presents a modular cognitive architecture for artificial intelligence grounded in the formal modeling of belief as structured semantic state. Belief states are defined as dynamic ensembles of linguistic ex…

This paper introduces a formal framework for modeling observer-dependent collapse dynamics and temporal identity drift within artificial and mathematical systems, grounded entirely in the symbolic foundations of Alpay Al…
Formal LogicOvercoming Referential Ambiguity in Language-Guided Goal-Conditioned Reinforcement Learning
Teaching an agent to perform new tasks using natural language can easily be hindered by ambiguities in interpretation. When a teacher provides an instruction to a learner about an object by referring to its features, the…

This paper proposes a conceptual framework in which intelligence and consciousness emerge from relational structure rather than from prediction or domain-specific mechanisms. Intelligence is defined as the capacity to fo…
