Conditional Analysis and a Principal-Agent problem

2016-06-14

We analyze conditional optimization problems arising in discrete time Principal-Agent problems of delegated portfolio optimization with linear contracts. Applying tools from Conditional Analysis we show that some results known in the literature for very specific instances of the problem carry over to translation invariant and time-consistent utility functions in very general probabilistic settings. However, we find that optimal contracts must in general make use of derivatives for compensation.

A brief note on learning problem with global perspectives

2026-01-09 · Getachew K. Befekadu arxiv

This brief note considers the problem of learning with dynamic-optimizing principal-agent setting, in which the agents are allowed to have global perspectives about the learning process, i.e., the ability to view things …

Optimal Pre-Analysis Plans: Statistical Decisions Subject to Implementability

2022-08-20 · Maximilian Kasy, Jann Spiess

What is the purpose of pre-analysis plans, and how should they be designed? We model the interaction between an agent who analyzes data and a principal who makes a decision based on agent reports. The agent could be the …

Analysis of the Risk-Sharing Principal-Agent problem through the Reverse-H{ö}lder inequality

2018-09-19 · Jessica Martin, Anthony Réveillac

In this paper we provide an alternative framework to tackle the first-best Principal-Agent problem under CARA utilities. This framework leads to both a proof of existence and uniqueness of the solution to the Risk-Sharin…

Regret Analysis of Repeated Delegated Choice

2023-10-07 · Mohammadtaghi Hajiaghayi, Mohammad Mahdavi, Keivan Rezaei, Suho Shin

We present a study on a repeated delegated choice problem, which is the first to consider an online learning variant of Kleinberg and Kleinberg, EC'18. In this model, a principal interacts repeatedly with an agent who po…

Joint Scoring Rules: Zero-Sum Competition Avoids Performative Prediction

2024-12-30 · Rubi Hudson

In a decision-making scenario, a principal could use conditional predictions from an expert agent to inform their choice. However, this approach would introduce a fundamental conflict of interest. An agent optimizing for…
