Estimation of intrinsic volumes from digital grey-scale images

2013-09-16 · Anne Marie Svane

Local algorithms are common tools for estimating intrinsic volumes from black-and-white digital images. However, these algorithms are typically biased in the design based setting, even when the resolution tends to infinity. Moreover, images recorded in practice are most often blurred grey-scale images rather than black-and-white. In this paper, an extended definition of local algorithms, applying directly to grey-scale images without thresholding, is suggested. We investigate the asymptotics of these new algorithms when the resolution tends to infinity and apply this to construct estimators for surface area and integrated mean curvature that are asymptotically unbiased in certain natural settings.

Duality in Persistent Homology of Images

2020-05-10 · Adélie Garin, Teresa Heiss, Kelly Maggs, Bea Bleile 외

We derive the relationship between the persistent homology barcodes of two dual filtered CW complexes. Applied to greyscale digital images, we obtain an algorithm to convert barcodes between the two different (dual) topo…

Virtual staining for 3D X-ray histology of bone implants

2025-09-11 · Sarah C. Irvine, Christian Lucas, Diana Krüger, Bianca Guedert 외 arxiv

Three-dimensional X-ray histology techniques offer a non-invasive alternative to conventional 2D histology, enabling volumetric imaging of biological tissues without the need for physical sectioning or chemical staining.…

Efficient Illuminant Estimation for Color Constancy Using Grey Pixels

2015-06-01 · CVPR 2015 6 · Kai-Fu Yang, Shao-Bing Gao, Yong-Jie Li

Illuminant estimation is a key step for computational color constancy. Instead of using the grey world or grey edge assumptions, we propose in this paper a novel method for illuminant estimation by using the information …

Mapping Mutable Genres in Structurally Complex Volumes

2013-09-12 · Ted Underwood, Michael L. Black, Loretta Auvil, Boris Capitanu

To mine large digital libraries in humanistically meaningful ways, scholars need to divide them by genre. This is a task that classification algorithms are well suited to assist, but they need adjustment to address the s…

GreyReID: A Two-stream Deep Framework with RGB-grey Information for Person Re-identification

2019-08-14 · Lei Qi, Lei Wang, Jing Huo, Yinghuan Shi 외

In this paper, we observe that most false positive images (i.e., different identities with query images) in the top ranking list usually have the similar color information with the query image in person re-identification…
