Exposing GAN-generated Faces Using Inconsistent Corneal Specular Highlights

2020-09-24 · Shu Hu, Yuezun Li, Siwei Lyu

Sophisticated generative adversary network (GAN) models are now able to synthesize highly realistic human faces that are difficult to discern from real ones visually. In this work, we show that GAN synthesized faces can be exposed with the inconsistent corneal specular highlights between two eyes. The inconsistency is caused by the lack of physical/physiological constraints in the GAN models. We show that such artifacts exist widely in high-quality GAN synthesized faces and further describe an automatic method to extract and compare corneal specular highlights from two eyes. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations of our method suggest its simplicity and effectiveness in distinguishing GAN synthesized faces.

Generating corneal panoramic images from contact specular microscope images

2023-01-06 · Yusuke Nagira, Yuzuha Hara, Satoru Hiwa, Naoki Okumura 외

The contact specular microscope has a wider angle of view than that of the non-contact specular microscope but still cannot capture an image of the entire cornea. To obtain such an image, it is necessary to prepare film …

Accurate Tissue Interface Segmentation via Adversarial Pre-Segmentation of Anterior Segment OCT Images

2019-05-07 · Jiahong Ouyang, Tejas Sudharshan Mathai, Kira Lathrop, John Galeotti

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging modality that has been widely adopted for visualizing corneal, retinal and limbal tissue structure with micron resolution. It can be used to diagnose pathological conditio…

DenseUNets with feedback non-local attention for the segmentation of specular microscopy images of the corneal endothelium with guttae

2022-03-03 · Juan P. Vigueras-Guillén, Jeroen van Rooij, Bart T. H. van Dooren, Hans G. Lemij 외

To estimate the corneal endothelial parameters from specular microscopy images depicting cornea guttata (Fuchs dystrophy), we propose a new deep learning methodology that includes a novel attention mechanism named feedba…

Learning to Segment Corneal Tissue Interfaces in OCT Images

Corneal endothelium assessment in specular microscopy images with Fuchs' dystrophy via deep regression of signed distance maps

2022-10-13 · Juan S. Sierra, Jesus Pineda, Daniela Rueda, Alejandro Tello 외

Specular microscopy assessment of the human corneal endothelium (CE) in Fuchs' dystrophy is challenging due to the presence of dark image regions called guttae. This paper proposes a UNet-based segmentation approach that…
