Fast Multi-Level Foreground Estimation

2020-06-26 · Thomas Germer, Tobias Uelwer, Stefan Conrad, Stefan Harmeling

Alpha matting aims to estimate the translucency of an object in a given image. The resulting alpha matte describes pixel-wise to what amount foreground and background colors contribute to the color of the composite image. While most methods in literature focus on estimating the alpha matte, the process of estimating the foreground colors given the input image and its alpha matte is often neglected, although foreground estimation is an essential part of many image editing workflows. In this work, we propose a novel method for foreground estimation given the alpha matte. We demonstrate that our fast multi-level approach yields results that are comparable with the state-of-the-art while outperforming those methods in computational runtime and memory usage.

FAST: Foreground-aware Diffusion with Accelerated Sampling Trajectory for Segmentation-oriented Anomaly Synthesis

2025-09-24 · Xichen Xu, Yanshu Wang, Jinbao Wang, Xiaoning Lei 외 arxiv

Industrial anomaly segmentation relies heavily on pixel-level annotations, yet real-world anomalies are often scarce, diverse, and costly to label. Segmentation-oriented industrial anomaly synthesis (SIAS) has emerged as…

Multi-scale Information Assembly for Image Matting

2021-01-07 · Yu Qiao, Yuhao Liu, Qiang Zhu, Xin Yang 외

Image matting is a long-standing problem in computer graphics and vision, mostly identified as the accurate estimation of the foreground in input images. We argue that the foreground objects can be represented by differe…

Task-Aware Monocular Depth Estimation for 3D Object Detection

2019-09-17 · Xinlong Wang, Wei Yin, Tao Kong, Yuning Jiang 외

Monocular depth estimation enables 3D perception from a single 2D image, thus attracting much research attention for years. Almost all methods treat foreground and background regions ("things and stuff") in an image equa…

Fast Object Placement Assessment

2022-05-28 · Li Niu, Qingyang Liu, Zhenchen Liu, Jiangtong Li

Object placement assessment (OPA) aims to predict the rationality score of a composite image in terms of the placement (e.g., scale, location) of inserted foreground object. However, given a pair of scaled foreground and…

Joint Motion Segmentation and Background Estimation in Dynamic Scenes

2014-06-01 · CVPR 2014 6 · Adeel Mumtaz, Weichen Zhang, Antoni B. Chan

We propose a joint foreground-background mixture model (FBM) that simultaneously performs background estimation and motion segmentation in complex dynamic scenes. Our FBM consist of a set of location-specific dynamic tex…
