How Uncertain Are Solar Neutrino Predictions?

1998-05-12 · John N. Bahcall, Sarbani Basu, M. H. Pinsonneault

Solar neutrino fluxes and sound speeds are calculated using a systematic reevaluation of nuclear fusion rates. The largest uncertainties are identified and their effects on the solar neutrino fluxes are estimated.

What do we (not) know theoretically about solar neutrino fluxes?

2004-02-04 · John N. Bahcall, M. H. Pinsonneault

Solar model predictions of 8B and p-p neutrinos agree with the experimentally-determined fluxes (including oscillations): phi(pp)_{measured} = (1.02 +- 0.02 +- 0.01)phi(pp)_{theory}, and phi(8B)_{measured} =(0.88 +- .04 …

New solar opacities, abundances, helioseismology, and neutrino fluxes

2004-12-16 · John N. Bahcall, Aldo M. Serenelli, Sarbani Basu

We construct solar models with the newly calculated radiative opacities from the Opacity Project (OP) and recently determined (lower) heavy element abundances. We compare results from the new models with predictions of a…

Solar Models: current epoch and time dependences, neutrinos, and helioseismological properties

2000-10-17 · John N. Bahcall, M. H. Pinsonneault, Sarbani Basu

We calculate accurate solar models and report the detailed time dependences of important solar quantities. We use helioseismology to constrain the luminosity evolution of the sun and report the discovery of semi-convecti…

New Solar Seismic Models and the Neutrino Puzzle

2002-03-07 · S. Couvidat, S. Turck-Chieze, A. G. Kosovichev

The SoHO spacecraft made astrophysicists achieve a major breakthrough in the knowledge of the Sun. In helioseismology, both GOLF and MDI experiments aboard SoHO greatly improve the accuracy of seismic data. More specific…

Solar neutrino limit on axions and keV-mass bosons

2008-07-18 · Paolo Gondolo, Georg Raffelt

The all-flavor solar neutrino flux measured by the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) constrains nonstandard energy losses to less than about 10% of the Sun's photon luminosity, superseding a helioseismological argument …
