Latent Space Factorization in LoRA

2025-10-22 · Shashi Kumar, Yacouba Kaloga, John Mitros, Petr Motlicek, Ina Kodrasi arxiv

Low-rank adaptation (LoRA) is a widely used method for parameter-efficient finetuning. However, existing LoRA variants lack mechanisms to explicitly disambiguate task-relevant information within the learned low-rank subspace, potentially limiting downstream performance. We propose Factorized Variational Autoencoder LoRA (FVAE-LoRA), which leverages a VAE to learn two distinct latent spaces. Our novel Evidence Lower Bound formulation explicitly promotes factorization between the latent spaces, dedicating one latent space to task-salient features and the other to residual information. Extensive experiments on text, audio, and image tasks demonstrate that FVAE-LoRA consistently outperforms standard LoRA. Moreover, spurious correlation evaluations confirm that FVAE-LoRA better isolates task-relevant signals, leading to improved robustness under distribution shifts. Dynamic Poisson Factorization

2015-09-15 · Laurent Charlin, Rajesh Ranganath, James McInerney, David M. Blei

Models for recommender systems use latent factors to explain the preferences and behaviors of users with respect to a set of items (e.g., movies, books, academic papers). Typically, the latent factors are assumed to be s…

Bayesian Poisson Tensor Factorization for Inferring Multilateral Relations from Sparse Dyadic Event Counts

2015-06-10 · Aaron Schein, John Paisley, David M. Blei, Hanna Wallach

We present a Bayesian tensor factorization model for inferring latent group structures from dynamic pairwise interaction patterns. For decades, political scientists have collected and analyzed records of the form "countr…

Synthesizing Human Faces using Latent Space Factorization and Local Weights (Extended Version)

2021-07-19 · Minyoung Kim, Young J. Kim

We propose a 3D face generative model with local weights to increase the model's variations and expressiveness. The proposed model allows partial manipulation of the face while still learning the whole face mesh. For thi…

FedRot-LoRA: Mitigating Rotational Misalignment in Federated LoRA

2026-02-27 · Haoran Zhang, Dongjun Kim, Seohyeon Cha, Haris Vikalo arxiv

Federated LoRA provides a communication-efficient mechanism for fine-tuning large language models on decentralized data. In practice, however, a discrepancy between the factor-wise averaging used to preserve low rank and…
