Lattice based Conceptual Spaces to Explore Cognitive Functionalities for Prosthetic Arm

2018-07-05 · M. S. Ishwarya, Aswani Kumar Cherukuri

Upper limb Prosthetic can be viewed as an independent cognitive system in order to develop a conceptual space. In this paper, we provide a detailed analogical reasoning of prosthetic arm to build the conceptual spaces with the help of the theory called geometric framework of conceptual spaces proposed by Gardenfors. Terminologies of conceptual spaces such as concepts, similarities, properties, quality dimensions and prototype are applied for a specific prosthetic system and conceptual space is built for prosthetic arm. Concept lattice traversals are used on the lattice represented conceptual spaces. Cognitive functionalities such as generalization (Similarities) and specialization (Differences) are achieved in the lattice represented conceptual space. This might well prove to design intelligent prosthetics to assist challenged humans. Geometric framework of conceptual spaces holds similar concepts closer in geometric structures in a way similar to concept lattices. Hence, we also propose to use concept lattice to represent concepts of geometric framework of conceptual spaces. Also, we extend our discussion with our insights on conceptual spaces of bidirectional hand prosthetics.

Formalising Concepts as Grounded Abstractions

2021-01-13 · Stephen Clark, Alexander Lerchner, Tamara von Glehn, Olivier Tieleman 외

The notion of concept has been studied for centuries, by philosophers, linguists, cognitive scientists, and researchers in artificial intelligence (Margolis & Laurence, 1999). There is a large literature on formal, mathe…

Cabbage Sweeter than Cake? Analysing the Potential of Large Language Models for Learning Conceptual Spaces

2023-10-09 · Usashi Chatterjee, Amit Gajbhiye, Steven Schockaert

The theory of Conceptual Spaces is an influential cognitive-linguistic framework for representing the meaning of concepts. Conceptual spaces are constructed from a set of quality dimensions, which essentially correspond …

Conceptual Spaces for Cognitive Architectures: A Lingua Franca for Different Levels of Representation

2017-01-02 · Antonio Lieto, Antonio Chella, Marcello Frixione

During the last decades, many cognitive architectures (CAs) have been realized adopting different assumptions about the organization and the representation of their knowledge level. Some of them (e.g. SOAR [Laird (2012)]…

Extracting Conceptual Spaces from LLMs Using Prototype Embeddings

2025-09-23 · Nitesh Kumar, Usashi Chatterjee, Steven Schockaert arxiv

Conceptual spaces represent entities and concepts using cognitively meaningful dimensions, typically referring to perceptual features. Such representations are widely used in cognitive science and have the potential to s…

Entity Embeddings with Conceptual Subspaces as a Basis for Plausible Reasoning

2016-02-18 · Shoaib Jameel, Steven Schockaert

Conceptual spaces are geometric representations of conceptual knowledge, in which entities correspond to points, natural properties correspond to convex regions, and the dimensions of the space correspond to salient feat…
