Learning multiview embeddings for assessing dementia

2018-10-01 · EMNLP 2018 10 · Chlo{\'e} Pou-Prom, Frank Rudzicz

As the incidence of Alzheimer{'}s Disease (AD) increases, early detection becomes crucial. Unfortunately, datasets for AD assessment are often sparse and incomplete. In this work, we leverage the multiview nature of a small AD dataset, DementiaBank, to learn an embedding that captures different modes of cognitive impairment. We apply generalized canonical correlation analysis (GCCA) to our dataset and demonstrate the added benefit of using multiview embeddings in two downstream tasks: identifying AD and predicting clinical scores. By including multiview embeddings, we obtain an F1 score of 0.82 in the classification task and a mean absolute error of 3.42 in the regression task. Furthermore, we show that multiview embeddings can be obtained from other datasets as well.

Separating Content from Speaker Identity in Speech for the Assessment of Cognitive Impairments

2022-03-21 · Dongseok Heo, Cheul Young Park, Jaemin Cheun, Myung Jin Ko

Deep speaker embeddings have been shown effective for assessing cognitive impairments aside from their original purpose of speaker verification. However, the research found that speaker embeddings encode speaker identity…

Prosody-Driven Privacy-Preserving Dementia Detection

2024-07-03 · Dominika Woszczyk, Ranya Aloufi, Soteris Demetriou

Speaker embeddings extracted from voice recordings have been proven valuable for dementia detection. However, by their nature, these embeddings contain identifiable information which raises privacy concerns. In this work…

Mitigating Scoring Errors and Compensating for Nonverbal Subtests in Speech-Based Dementia Assessment

2026-06-17 · Franziska Braun, Christopher Witzl, Andreas Erzigkeit, Hartmut Lehfeld 외 arxiv

Early detection of cognitive impairment relies on neuropsychological tests to minimize subjectivity by assessing multiple cognitive domains. Speech-based evaluation can support diagnostics and improve accessibility, but …

Multiview Representation Learning from Crowdsourced Triplet Comparisons

2023-02-08 · Xiaotian Lu, Jiyi Li, Koh Takeuchi, Hisashi Kashima

Crowdsourcing has been used to collect data at scale in numerous fields. Triplet similarity comparison is a type of crowdsourcing task, in which crowd workers are asked the question ``among three given objects, which two…

PIEs: Pose Invariant Embeddings

2019-06-01 · CVPR 2019 6 · Chih-Hui Ho, Pedro Morgado, Amir Persekian, Nuno Vasconcelos

The role of pose invariance in image recognition and retrieval is studied. A taxonomic classification of embeddings, according to their level of invariance, is introduced and used to clarify connections between existing …
