MANTRA: The Manifold Triangulations Assemblage

2024-10-03 · Rubén Ballester, Ernst Röell, Daniel Bīn Schmid, Mathieu Alain, Sergio Escalera, Carles Casacuberta, Bastian Rieck

The rising interest in leveraging higher-order interactions present in complex systems has led to a surge in more expressive models exploiting higher-order structures in the data, especially in topological deep learning (TDL), which designs neural networks on higher-order domains such as simplicial complexes. However, progress in this field is hindered by the scarcity of datasets for benchmarking these architectures. To address this gap, we introduce MANTRA, the first large-scale, diverse, and intrinsically higher-order dataset for benchmarking higher-order models, comprising over 43,000 and 250,000 triangulations of surfaces and three-dimensional manifolds, respectively. With MANTRA, we assess several graph- and simplicial complex-based models on three topological classification tasks. We demonstrate that while simplicial complex-based neural networks generally outperform their graph-based counterparts in capturing simple topological invariants, they also struggle, suggesting a rethink of TDL. Thus, MANTRA serves as a benchmark for assessing and advancing topological methods, leading the way for more effective higher-order models.

No Triangulation Without Representation: Generalization in Topological Deep Learning

2026-05-07 · Johannes S. Schmidt, Martin Carrasco, Ernst Röell, Guy Wolf 외 arxiv

Despite an ever-increasing interest in topological deep learning models that target higher-order datasets, there is no consensus on how to evaluate such models. This is exacerbated by the fact that topological objects pe…

Learning 3-Manifold Triangulations

2024-05-15 · Francesco Costantino, Yang-Hui He, Elli Heyes, Edward Hirst

Real 3-manifold triangulations can be uniquely represented by isomorphism signatures. Databases of these isomorphism signatures are generated for a variety of 3-manifolds and knot complements, using SnapPy and Regina, th…

Generating Special Triangulations with Transformers

Triangulations, i.e., well-structured decompositions of geometric objects into triangle-like pieces, are central objects in many domains of mathematics and physics. In particular, fine, regular, and star triangulations (…

ManTra-Net: Manipulation Tracing Network for Detection and Localization of Image Forgeries With Anomalous Features

2019-06-01 · CVPR 2019 6 · Yue Wu, Wael AbdAlmageed, Premkumar Natarajan

To fight against real-life image forgery, which commonly involves different types and combined manipulations, we propose a unified deep neural architecture called ManTra-Net. Unlike many existing solutions, ManTra-Ne…

Learning Delaunay Surface Elements for Mesh Reconstruction

2020-12-02 · CVPR 2021 1 · Marie-Julie Rakotosaona, Paul Guerrero, Noam Aigerman, Niloy Mitra 외

We present a method for reconstructing triangle meshes from point clouds. Existing learning-based methods for mesh reconstruction mostly generate triangles individually, making it hard to create manifold meshes. We lever…
