MCMChaos: Improvising Rap Music with MCMC Methods and Chaos Theory

2024-01-15 · Robert G. Kimelman

A novel freestyle rap software, MCMChaos 0.0.1, based on rap music transcriptions created in previous research is presented. The software has three different versions, each making use of different mathematical simulation methods: collapsed gibbs sampler and lorenz attractor simulation. As far as we know, these simulation methods have never been used in rap music generation before. The software implements Python Text-to-Speech processing (pyttxs) to convert text wrangled from the MCFlow corpus into English speech. In each version, values simulated from each respective mathematical model alter the rate of speech, volume, and (in the multiple voice case) the voice of the text-to-speech engine on a line-by-line basis. The user of the software is presented with a real-time graphical user interface (GUI) which instantaneously changes the initial values read into the mathematical simulation methods. Future research might attempt to allow for more user control and autonomy.

2024-02-09 · Vignesh Gokul, Chris Francis, Shlomo Dubnov

Co-creativity in music refers to two or more musicians or musical agents interacting with one another by composing or improvising music. However, this is a very subjective process and each musician has their own preferen…

Interpreting Graphic Notation with MusicLDM: An AI Improvisation of Cornelius Cardew's Treatise

2024-12-12 · Tornike Karchkhadze, Keren Shao, Shlomo Dubnov

This work presents a novel method for composing and improvising music inspired by Cornelius Cardew's Treatise, using AI to bridge graphic notation and musical expression. By leveraging OpenAI's ChatGPT to interpret the a…

Nonlinear MCMC for Bayesian Machine Learning

2022-02-11 · James Vuckovic

We explore the application of a nonlinear MCMC technique first introduced in [1] to problems in Bayesian machine learning. We provide a convergence guarantee in total variation that uses novel results for long-time conve…

Adaptive Accompaniment with ReaLchords

2025-06-17 · Yusong Wu, Tim Cooijmans, Kyle Kastner, Adam Roberts 외

Jamming requires coordination, anticipation, and collaborative creativity between musicians. Current generative models of music produce expressive output but are not able to generate in an \emph{online} manner, meaning s…

Harmony search algorithm for the container storage problem

2013-06-01 · I. Ayachi, R. Kammarti, M. Ksouri, P. Borne 외

Recently a new metaheuristic called harmony search was developed. It mimics the behaviors of musicians improvising to find the better state harmony. In this paper, this algorithm is described and applied to solve the con…
