Measuring COVID-19 spreading speed through the mean time between infections indicator
We propose to use the mean time between infections (MTBI) metric as obtained from a recently introduced non-homogeneous Markov stochastic model. Different types of parameter calibration are performed. We estimate the MTBI using data from different time windows and from the whole stage history and compare the results. In order to detect waves and stages in the input data, a preprocessing filtering technique is applied. The results of applying this indicator to the COVID-19 reported data of infections from Argentina, Germany and the United States are shown. We find that the MTBI behaves similarly with respect to the different data inputs, whereas the model parameters completely change their behaviour. Evolution over time of the parameters and the MTBI indicator is also shown. We show evidence to support the claim that the MTBI is a rather good indicator in order to measure the spreading speed of an epidemic, having similar values whatever the input data size.

Identifying Mitigation Strategies for COVID-19 Superspreading on Flights using Models that Account for Passenger Movement
Despite commercial airlines mandating masks, there have been multiple documented events of COVID-19 superspreading on flights. We used available data from three flights, including cabin layout and seat locations of infec…
How macroscopic laws describe complex dynamics: asymptomatic population and CoviD-19 spreading
Macroscopic growth laws, solutions of mean field equations, describe in an effective way an underlying complex dynamics. They are applied to study the spreading of infections, as in the case of CoviD-19, where the counti…

The aim of this paper consists in the application of a recent epidemiological model, namely SEIR with Social Distancing (SEIR--SD), extended here through the definition of a social distancing function varying over time, …
Analysis and forecast of COVID-19 spreading in China, Italy and France
In this note we analyze the temporal dynamics of the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak in China, Italy and France in the time window $22/01-09/03/2020$. A first analysis of simple day-lag maps points to some universality…
