Multi-channel Uplift Policy Learning

2026-07-30 · Changjian Liu, Tianyu Wang, Xiaoxuan Deng, WenTao Zhu, Yuwei Xu, Jungqi Jin, Yong Gao, Chuan Yu, Jian Xu, Bo Zheng arxiv

E-commerce platforms must allocate fixed marketing budgets across multiple channels to maximize business utility. However, standard predict-then-optimize (PTO) paradigms fail in this compositional space due to observational confounding and severe extrapolation. We formulate this challenge as a simplex-constrained uplift decision problem and propose ReAlloc, a fast-slow causal framework. Specifically, an agile Orthogonal Teacher extracts unbiased local gradients from short-term logs, while an Explanation-Guided Student distills them into a structured marginal field over long-term horizons. This design enables support-aware, conservative decisions that capture cross-channel substitutions. Extensive simulations and large-scale online A/B tests on Taobao platform demonstrate that ReAlloc achieves simultaneous lifts in both pay order and income.

Uplift Modeling for Multiple Treatments with Cost Optimization

2019-08-14 · Zhenyu Zhao, Totte Harinen

Uplift modeling is an emerging machine learning approach for estimating the treatment effect at an individual or subgroup level. It can be used for optimizing the performance of interventions such as marketing campaigns …

Orthogonal Uplift Learning with Permutation-Invariant Representations for Combinatorial Treatments

2026-02-23 · Xinyan Su, Jiacan Gao, Mingyuan Ma, Xiao Xu 외 arxiv

We study uplift estimation for combinatorial treatments. Uplift measures the pure incremental causal effect of an intervention (e.g., sending a coupon or a marketing message) on user behavior, modeled as a conditional in…

UpliftBench: Revealing Outcome-Regime and Objective Mismatch in Uplift Evaluation

2026-08-02 · Binshuang Li arxiv

Uplift modeling (conditional-average-treatment-effect estimation) drives personalized targeting, yet published uplift benchmarks frequently disagree on which estimator performs best; we show the disagreement is substanti…

Affordable Uplift: Supervised Randomization in Controlled Experiments

2019-10-01 · Johannes Haupt, Daniel Jacob, Robin M. Gubela, Stefan Lessmann

Customer scoring models are the core of scalable direct marketing. Uplift models provide an estimate of the incremental benefit from a treatment that is used for operational decision-making. Training and monitoring of up…

Contextual Multi-Armed Bandits for Causal Marketing

2018-10-02 · Neela Sawant, Chitti Babu Namballa, Narayanan Sadagopan, Houssam Nassif

This work explores the idea of a causal contextual multi-armed bandit approach to automated marketing, where we estimate and optimize the causal (incremental) effects. Focusing on causal effect leads to better return on …
