Next Check-ins Prediction via History and Friendship on Location-Based Social Networks
With the thriving of location-based social networks, a large number of user check-in data have been accumulated. Tasks such as the prediction of the next check-in location can be addressed through the usage of LBSN data. Previous work mainly uses the historical trajectories of users to analyze users' check-in behavior, while the social information of users was rarely used. In this paper, we propose a unified location prediction framework to integrate the effect of history check-in and the influence of social circles. We first employ the most frequent check-in model (MFC) and the user-based collaborative filtering model (UCF) to capture users' historical trajectories and users' implicit preferences, respectively. Then we use the multi-social circle model (MSC) to model the influence of three social circles. Finally, we evaluate our location prediction framework in the real-world data sets, and the experimental results show that our model performs better than the state-of-the-art approaches in predicting the next check-in location.

End-to-End Personalized Next Location Recommendation via Contrastive User Preference Modeling
Predicting the next location is a highly valuable and common need in many location-based services such as destination prediction and route planning. The goal of next location recommendation is to predict the next point-o…
DecoderCan Smartphone Co-locations Detect Friendship? It Depends How You Model It
We present a study to detect friendship, its strength, and its change from smartphone location data collectedamong members of a fraternity. We extract a rich set of co-location features and build classifiers that detectf…
The Convergence Gap: Instruction-Tuned Language Models Stabilize Later in the Forward Pass
Final outputs hide when a checkpoint commits to its next-token prediction. We introduce the convergence gap, a model-diffing diagnostic that decodes each layer's next-token distribution and measures its distance to the m…
Leveraging Social Influence based on Users Activity Centers for Point-of-Interest Recommendation
Recommender Systems (RSs) aim to model and predict the user preference while interacting with items, such as Points of Interest (POIs). These systems face several challenges, such as data sparsity, limiting their effecti…
Recommendation SystemsRetrospective Higher-Order Markov Processes for User Trails
Users form information trails as they browse the web, checkin with a geolocation, rate items, or consume media. A common problem is to predict what a user might do next for the purposes of guidance, recommendation, or pr…
