Post-acquisition image based compensation for thickness variation in microscopy section series

2014-11-25 · Philipp Hanslovsky, John A. Bogovic, Stephan Saalfeld

Serial section Microscopy is an established method for volumetric anatomy reconstruction. Section series imaged with Electron Microscopy are currently vital for the reconstruction of the synaptic connectivity of entire animal brains such as that of Drosophila melanogaster. The process of removing ultrathin layers from a solid block containing the specimen, however, is a fragile procedure and has limited precision with respect to section thickness. We have developed a method to estimate the relative z-position of each individual section as a function of signal change across the section series. First experiments show promising results on both serial section Transmission Electron Microscopy (ssTEM) data and Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM) series. We made our solution available as Open Source plugins for the TrakEM2 software and the ImageJ distribution Fiji.

A Novel Compensation Algorithm for Thickness Measurement Immune to Lift-Off Variations Using Eddy Current Method

2019-05-28

Lift-off variation causes errors in the eddy current thickness measurements of metallic plates. In this paper, we have developed an algorithm that can compensate for this variation and produce an index that is linked to …

Beyond Benchmarks: A Framework for Post Deployment Validation of CT Lung Nodule Detection AI

2026-03-25 · Daniel Soliman arxiv

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) assisted lung nodule detection systems are increasingly deployed in clinical settings without site-specific validation. Performance reported under benchmark conditions may not ref…

On the Influence of Smoothness Constraints in Computed Tomography Motion Compensation

2024-05-29 · Mareike Thies, Fabian Wagner, Noah Maul, Siyuan Mei 외

Computed tomography (CT) relies on precise patient immobilization during image acquisition. Nevertheless, motion artifacts in the reconstructed images can persist. Motion compensation methods aim to correct such artifact…

Beyond MR Image Harmonization: Resolution Matters Too

2024-08-29 · Savannah P. Hays, Samuel W. Remedios, Lianrui Zuo, Ellen M. Mowry 외

Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is commonly used in the clinical setting to non-invasively monitor the body. There exists a large variability in MR imaging due to differences in scanner hardware, software, and protocol d…
