Practical Black Box Hamiltonian Learning

2022-06-30 · Andi Gu, Lukasz Cincio, Patrick J. Coles

We study the problem of learning the parameters for the Hamiltonian of a quantum many-body system, given limited access to the system. In this work, we build upon recent approaches to Hamiltonian learning via derivative estimation. We propose a protocol that improves the scaling dependence of prior works, particularly with respect to parameters relating to the structure of the Hamiltonian (e.g., its locality $k$). Furthermore, by deriving exact bounds on the performance of our protocol, we are able to provide a precise numerical prescription for theoretically optimal settings of hyperparameters in our learning protocol, such as the maximum evolution time (when learning with unitary dynamics) or minimum temperature (when learning with Gibbs states). Thanks to these improvements, our protocol is practical for large problems: we demonstrate this with a numerical simulation of our protocol on an 80-qubit system.

2024-10-10 · Vamsi Krishna Chilakamarri, Zeyuan Feng, Somil Bansal

Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ) reachability analysis is a powerful framework for ensuring safety and performance in autonomous systems. However, existing methods typically rely on a white-box dynamics model of the system, limiting…

Surrogate-Guided Quantum Discovery in Black-Box Landscapes with Latent-Quadratic Interaction Embedding Transformers

Discovering configurations that are both high-utility and structurally diverse under expensive black-box evaluation and strict query budgets remains a central challenge in data-driven discovery. Many classical optimizers…

On the Local equivalence of the Black Scholes and the Merton Garman equations

On the probability flow in the Stock market I: The Black-Scholes case

2019-12-20 · Ivan Arraut, Alan Au, Alan Ching-biu Tse, Joao Alexandre Lobo Marques

It is known that the probability is not a conserved quantity in the stock market, given the fact that it corresponds to an open system. In this paper we analyze the flow of probability in this system by expressing the id…
