PyVRP: a high-performance VRP solver package

2023-11-22 · Niels A. Wouda, Leon Lan, Wouter Kool

We introduce PyVRP, a Python package that implements hybrid genetic search in a state-of-the-art vehicle routing problem (VRP) solver. The package is designed for the VRP with time windows (VRPTW), but can be easily extended to support other VRP variants. PyVRP combines the flexibility of Python with the performance of C++, by implementing (only) performance critical parts of the algorithm in C++, while being fully customisable at the Python level. PyVRP is a polished implementation of the algorithm that ranked 1st in the 2021 DIMACS VRPTW challenge and, after improvements, ranked 1st on the static variant of the EURO meets NeurIPS 2022 vehicle routing competition. The code follows good software engineering practices, and is well-documented and unit tested. PyVRP is freely available under the liberal MIT license. Through numerical experiments we show that PyVRP achieves state-of-the-art results on the VRPTW and capacitated VRP. We hope that PyVRP enables researchers and practitioners to easily and quickly build on a state-of-the-art VRP solver.

An Amortized Efficiency Threshold for Comparing Neural and Heuristic Solvers in Combinatorial Optimization

2026-05-14 · Sohaib Afifi arxiv

A common critique of neural combinatorial-optimization solvers is that they are less energy-efficient than CPU metaheuristics, given the operational energy cost of training them on GPUs. This paper examines the inferenti…

liquidSVM: A Fast and Versatile SVM package

2017-02-22 · Ingo Steinwart, Philipp Thomann

liquidSVM is a package written in C++ that provides SVM-type solvers for various classification and regression tasks. Because of a fully integrated hyper-parameter selection, very carefully implemented solvers, multi-thr…

A Fast and Scalable Pathwise-Solver for Group Lasso and Elastic Net Penalized Regression via Block-Coordinate Descent

2024-05-14 · James Yang, Trevor Hastie

We develop fast and scalable algorithms based on block-coordinate descent to solve the group lasso and the group elastic net for generalized linear models along a regularization path. Special attention is given when the …

SimInf: An R package for Data-driven Stochastic Disease Spread Simulations

Efficient Solvers for SLOPE in R, Python, Julia, and C++

2025-11-04 · Johan Larsson, Malgorzata Bogdan, Krystyna Grzesiak, Mathurin Massias 외 arxiv

We present a suite of packages in R, Python, Julia, and C++ that efficiently solve the Sorted L-One Penalized Estimation (SLOPE) problem. The packages feature a highly efficient hybrid coordinate descent algorithm that f…
