Remarks on equality of two distributions under some partial orders

2015-05-18

In this note we establish some appropriate conditions for stochastic equality of two random variables/vectors which are ordered with respect to convex ordering or with respect to supermodular ordering. Multivariate extensions of this result are also considered.

Remarks on the Polyak-Lojasiewicz inequality and the convergence of gradient systems

2025-03-31 · Arthur Castello B. de Oliveira, Leilei Cui, Eduardo D. Sontag

This work explores generalizations of the Polyak-Lojasiewicz inequality (PLI) and their implications for the convergence behavior of gradient flows in optimization problems. Motivated by the continuous-time linear quadra…

Bandit Algorithms for Prophet Inequality and Pandora's Box

2022-11-16 · Khashayar Gatmiry, Thomas Kesselheim, Sahil Singla, Yifan Wang

The Prophet Inequality and Pandora's Box problems are fundamental stochastic problem with applications in Mechanism Design, Online Algorithms, Stochastic Optimization, Optimal Stopping, and Operations Research. A usual a…

Explicit expressions for European option pricing under a generalized skew normal distribution

2017-07-30

Under a generalized skew normal distribution we consider the problem of European option pricing. Existence of the martingale measure is proved. An explicit expression for a given European option price is presented in ter…

An Oracle Inequality for Quasi-Bayesian Non-Negative Matrix Factorization

2016-01-06 · Pierre Alquier, Benjamin Guedj

The aim of this paper is to provide some theoretical understanding of quasi-Bayesian aggregation methods non-negative matrix factorization. We derive an oracle inequality for an aggregated estimator. This result holds fo…

Taming under isoperimetry

2023-11-15 · Iosif Lytras, Sotirios Sabanis

In this article we propose a novel taming Langevin-based scheme called $\mathbf{sTULA}$ to sample from distributions with superlinearly growing log-gradient which also satisfy a Log-Sobolev inequality. We derive non-asym…
