Representing Closed Transformation Paths in Encoded Network Latent Space

2019-12-05 · Marissa Connor, Christopher Rozell

Deep generative networks have been widely used for learning mappings from a low-dimensional latent space to a high-dimensional data space. In many cases, data transformations are defined by linear paths in this latent space. However, the Euclidean structure of the latent space may be a poor match for the underlying latent structure in the data. In this work, we incorporate a generative manifold model into the latent space of an autoencoder in order to learn the low-dimensional manifold structure from the data and adapt the latent space to accommodate this structure. In particular, we focus on applications in which the data has closed transformation paths which extend from a starting point and return to nearly the same point. Through experiments on data with natural closed transformation paths, we show that this model introduces the ability to learn the latent dynamics of complex systems, generate transformation paths, and classify samples that belong on the same transformation path.

Learning Vector Autoregressive Models with Latent Processes

2017-02-27 · Saber Salehkaleybar, Jalal Etesami, Negar Kiyavash, Kun Zhang

We study the problem of learning the support of transition matrix between random processes in a Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model from samples when a subset of the processes are latent. It is well known that ignoring the…

WarpedGANSpace: Finding non-linear RBF paths in GAN latent space

2021-09-27 · ICCV 2021 10 · Christos Tzelepis, Georgios Tzimiropoulos, Ioannis Patras

This work addresses the problem of discovering, in an unsupervised manner, interpretable paths in the latent space of pretrained GANs, so as to provide an intuitive and easy way of controlling the underlying generative f…

Design principles of multi-map variation in biological systems

2023-07-17 · Juan F Poyatos

Complexity in biology is often described using a multi-map architecture, where the genotype, representing the encoded information, is mapped to the functional level, known as the phenotype, which is then connected to a l…

Anchoring Path for Inductive Relation Prediction in Knowledge Graphs

Variational Autoencoder with Learned Latent Structure

2020-06-18 · Marissa C. Connor, Gregory H. Canal, Christopher J. Rozell

The manifold hypothesis states that high-dimensional data can be modeled as lying on or near a low-dimensional, nonlinear manifold. Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) approximate this manifold by learning mappings from low-…
