Semi-supervised Vertex Hunting, with Applications in Network and Text Analysis

2025-10-26 · Yicong Jiang, Zheng Tracy Ke arxiv

Vertex hunting (VH) is the task of estimating a simplex from noisy data points and has many applications in areas such as network and text analysis. We introduce a new variant, semi-supervised vertex hunting (SSVH), in which partial information is available in the form of barycentric coordinates for some data points, known only up to an unknown transformation. To address this problem, we develop a method that leverages properties of orthogonal projection matrices, drawing on novel insights from linear algebra. We establish theoretical error bounds for our method and demonstrate that it achieves a faster convergence rate than existing unsupervised VH algorithms. Finally, we apply SSVH to two practical settings, semi-supervised network mixed membership estimation and semi-supervised topic modeling, resulting in efficient and scalable algorithms.

Improved Algorithm and Bounds for Successive Projection

2024-03-16 · Jiashun Jin, Zheng Tracy Ke, Gabriel Moryoussef, Jiajun Tang 외

Given a $K$-vertex simplex in a $d$-dimensional space, suppose we measure $n$ points on the simplex with noise (hence, some of the observed points fall outside the simplex). Vertex hunting is the problem of estimating th…

Evolution of Cooperative Hunting in Artificial Multi-layered Societies

2020-05-23 · Honglin Bao, Wolfgang Banzhaf

The complexity of cooperative behavior is a crucial issue in multiagent-based social simulation. In this paper, an agent-based model is proposed to study the evolution of cooperative hunting behaviors in an artificial so…

Enabling Efficient Cyber Threat Hunting With Cyber Threat Intelligence

2020-10-26 · Peng Gao, Fei Shao, Xiaoyuan Liu, Xusheng Xiao 외

Log-based cyber threat hunting has emerged as an important solution to counter sophisticated attacks. However, existing approaches require non-trivial efforts of manual query construction and have overlooked the rich ext…

Graph-based Semi-Supervised & Active Learning for Edge Flows

2019-05-17 · Junteng Jia, Michael T. Schaub, Santiago Segarra, Austin R. Benson

We present a graph-based semi-supervised learning (SSL) method for learning edge flows defined on a graph. Specifically, given flow measurements on a subset of edges, we want to predict the flows on the remaining edges. …

CT-VDETR: Semi-supervised 3D Trauma Detection in Computed Tomography (CT) scans using Dense Vertex Relative Position Encoding

2026-03-12 · Shivam Chaudhary, Sheethal Bhat, Andreas Maier arxiv

Accurate detection and localization of traumatic injuries in abdominal CT remain challenging because voxel-level annotations are limited and expensive to obtain. We present a label-efficient framework for 3D abdominal tr…
