StochBench: A Domain-Specific Benchmark for Stochastic Processes in Lean

2026-09-08 · Idan Davidovich, Debargha Ganguly, Vikash Singh, Vipin Chaudhary hf

Leading benchmarks for formal theorem proving with large language models are small collections drawn from competition math, such as the IMO and Putnam, that poorly represent field-specific applications. We introduce StochBench, a Lean 4 benchmark of 450 graduate stochastic-processes problems at varying abstraction levels, each paired with its natural-language source. Addressing a field underrepresented in Mathlib, it covers finite and countable Markov chains, renewal processes, random walks, martingales, stopping times, queues, Brownian motion, stochastic calculus, weak convergence, and Poisson and continuous-time Markov processes. Our Opus 4.8-based agent achieves a 34.9% proof rate (157/450) under a 15-minute per-problem limit. StochBench better represents domain-specific applied mathematics while remaining challenging for advanced provers.

The Spectral-Domain $\mathcal{W}_2$ Wasserstein Distance for Elliptical Processes and the Spectral-Domain Gelbrich Bound

2020-12-07 · Song Fang, Quanyan Zhu

In this short note, we introduce the spectral-domain $\mathcal{W}_2$ Wasserstein distance for elliptical stochastic processes in terms of their power spectra. We also introduce the spectral-domain Gelbrich bound for proc…

Rollout Heuristics for Online Stochastic Contingent Planning

2023-10-03 · Oded Blumenthal, Guy Shani

Partially observable Markov decision processes (POMDP) are a useful model for decision-making under partial observability and stochastic actions. Partially Observable Monte-Carlo Planning is an online algorithm for decid…

Signature Kernel Conditional Independence Tests in Causal Discovery for Stochastic Processes

2024-02-28 · Georg Manten, Cecilia Casolo, Emilio Ferrucci, Søren Wengel Mogensen 외

Inferring the causal structure underlying stochastic dynamical systems from observational data holds great promise in domains ranging from science and health to finance. Such processes can often be accurately modeled via…

Semi-Parametric Inference for Doubly Stochastic Spatial Point Processes: An Approximate Penalized Poisson Likelihood Approach

2023-06-11 · Si Cheng, Jon Wakefield, Ali Shojaie

Doubly-stochastic point processes model the occurrence of events over a spatial domain as an inhomogeneous Poisson process conditioned on the realization of a random intensity function. They are flexible tools for captur…

The Critical Domain Size of Stochastic Population Models

2016-01-21

Identifying the critical domain size necessary for a population to persist is an important question in ecology. Both demographic and environmental stochasticity impact a population's ability to persist. Here we explore w…
