Structure Learning in Graphical Modeling

2016-06-07 · Mathias Drton, Marloes H. Maathuis

A graphical model is a statistical model that is associated to a graph whose nodes correspond to variables of interest. The edges of the graph reflect allowed conditional dependencies among the variables. Graphical models admit computationally convenient factorization properties and have long been a valuable tool for tractable modeling of multivariate distributions. More recently, applications such as reconstructing gene regulatory networks from gene expression data have driven major advances in structure learning, that is, estimating the graph underlying a model. We review some of these advances and discuss methods such as the graphical lasso and neighborhood selection for undirected graphical models (or Markov random fields), and the PC algorithm and score-based search methods for directed graphical models (or Bayesian networks). We further review extensions that account for effects of latent variables and heterogeneous data sources.

Structure Learning of Probabilistic Graphical Models: A Comprehensive Survey

2011-11-29 · Yang Zhou

Probabilistic graphical models combine the graph theory and probability theory to give a multivariate statistical modeling. They provide a unified description of uncertainty using probability and complexity using the gra…

Graphical Model Sketch

2016-02-09 · Branislav Kveton, Hung Bui, Mohammad Ghavamzadeh, Georgios Theocharous 외

Structured high-cardinality data arises in many domains, and poses a major challenge for both modeling and inference. Graphical models are a popular approach to modeling structured data but they are unsuitable for high-c…

Uncertainty quantification for Markov Random Fields

2020-08-31 · Panagiota Birmpa, Markos A. Katsoulakis

We present an information-based uncertainty quantification method for general Markov Random Fields. Markov Random Fields (MRF) are structured, probabilistic graphical models over undirected graphs, and provide a fundamen…

Composing graphical models with neural networks for structured representations and fast inference

2016-03-20 · NeurIPS 2016 12 · Matthew J. Johnson, David Duvenaud, Alexander B. Wiltschko, Sandeep R. Datta 외

We propose a general modeling and inference framework that composes probabilistic graphical models with deep learning methods and combines their respective strengths. Our model family augments graphical structure in late…
