Task-based Generation of Optimized Projection Sets using Differentiable Ranking

2023-03-21 · Linda-Sophie Schneider, Mareike Thies, Christopher Syben, Richard Schielein, Mathias Unberath, Andreas Maier

We present a method for selecting valuable projections in computed tomography (CT) scans to enhance image reconstruction and diagnosis. The approach integrates two important factors, projection-based detectability and data completeness, into a single feed-forward neural network. The network evaluates the value of projections, processes them through a differentiable ranking function and makes the final selection using a straight-through estimator. Data completeness is ensured through the label provided during training. The approach eliminates the need for heuristically enforcing data completeness, which may exclude valuable projections. The method is evaluated on simulated data in a non-destructive testing scenario, where the aim is to maximize the reconstruction quality within a specified region of interest. We achieve comparable results to previous methods, laying the foundation for using reconstruction-based loss functions to learn the selection of projections.

StippleDiffusion: Capacity-Constrained Stippling using Controlled Diffusion

2026-05-15 · Ofir Gilad, Aleksander Plocharski, Przemyslaw Musialski, Andrei Sharf arxiv

Stipple patterns, point sets whose local density tracks a target image, are traditionally produced by per-density iterative optimizers, which are slow, non-differentiable, and must be re-run from scratch for each new tar…

CLONE: A 3DGS-Based Closed-Loop Differentiable Optimization Framework for Single-Image Normal Estimation

2025-08-08 · Yanxing Liang, Yinghui Wang, Wei Li, Tao Yan 외 arxiv

We propose CLONE, a 3DGS-based Closed-Loop differentiable Optimization framework for single-image Normal Estimation. The core idea is to construct an "image-geometry-image" consistency loop that unifies and jointly const…

On the Benefit of Dual-domain Denoising in a Self-supervised Low-dose CT Setting

2022-11-02 · Fabian Wagner, Mareike Thies, Laura Pfaff, Oliver Aust 외

Computed tomography (CT) is routinely used for three-dimensional non-invasive imaging. Numerous data-driven image denoising algorithms were proposed to restore image quality in low-dose acquisitions. However, considerabl…

Sparse-view computed tomography (SVCT) reconstruction aims to acquire CT images based on sparsely-sampled measurements. It allows the subjects exposed to less ionizing radiation, reducing the lifetime risk of developing …

Neural Projection Mapping Using Reflectance Fields

2023-06-11 · Yotam Erel, Daisuke Iwai, Amit H. Bermano

We introduce a high resolution spatially adaptive light source, or a projector, into a neural reflectance field that allows to both calibrate the projector and photo realistic light editing. The projected texture is full…
