Topological Deep Learning
Topological deep learning is a formalism that is aimed at introducing topological language to deep learning for the purpose of utilizing the minimal mathematical structures to formalize problems that arise in a generic deep learning problem. In this article, we define and study the classification problem in machine learning in a topological setting. Using this topological framework, we show when the classification problem is possible or not possible in the context of neural networks. Finally, we demonstrate how our topological setting immediately illuminates aspects of this problem that are not as readily apparent using traditional tools.

Topological Learning in Multi-Class Data Sets
We specialize techniques from topological data analysis to the problem of characterizing the topological complexity (as defined in the body of the paper) of a multi-class data set. As a by-product, a topological classifi…
Topological Data AnalysisTopological Expressivity of ReLU Neural Networks
We study the expressivity of ReLU neural networks in the setting of a binary classification problem from a topological perspective. Recently, empirical studies showed that neural networks operate by changing topology, tr…
Binary ClassificationConfidence sets for persistence diagrams
Persistent homology is a method for probing topological properties of point clouds and functions. The method involves tracking the birth and death of topological features (2000) as one varies a tuning parameter. Features…
Topologically sensitive metaheuristics
This paper proposes topologically sensitive metaheuristics, and describes conceptual design of topologically sensitive Variable Neighborhood Search method (TVNS) and topologically sensitive Electromagnetism Metaheuristic…
A Novel Method of Extracting Topological Features from Word Embeddings
In recent years, topological data analysis has been utilized for a wide range of problems to deal with high dimensional noisy data. While text representations are often high dimensional and noisy, there are only a few wo…
