A mathematical definition of property rights in a Debreu economy
We present mathematical definitions for rights structures, government and non-attenuation in a generalized N-person game (Debreu abstract economy), thus providing a formal basis for property rights theory.

Graphical Economies with Resale
Kakade, Kearns, and Ortiz (KKO) introduce a graph-theoretic generalization of the classic Arrow--Debreu (AD) exchange economy. Despite its appeal as a networked version of AD, we argue that the KKO model is too local, in…
A geometric approach to the transfer problem for a finite number of traders
We present a complete characterization of the classical transfer problem for an exchange economy with an arbitrary finite number of traders. Our method is geometric, using an equilibrium manifold developed by Debreu, Mas…
Alignment as Institutional Design: From Behavioral Correction to Transaction Structure in Intelligent Systems
Current AI alignment paradigms rely on behavioral correction: external supervisors (e.g., RLHF) observe outputs, judge against preferences, and adjust parameters. This paper argues that behavioral correction is structura…
Why do elites extend property rights: unlocking investment and the switch to public goods
This paper presents a new rationale for a self-interested economic elite voluntarily extending property rights. When agents make endogenous investment decisions, there is a commitment problem. Ex-post, the elite face str…
Cultural Transmission, Property Rights, and Treatment of the Elderly
We examine how production and the development of property rights interact with cultural transmission to shape the treatment of the elderly across societies. Our model posits that respect for the elderly arises endogenous…
