Convex optimization on Banach Spaces

2014-01-01 · R. A. DeVore, V. N. Temlyakov

Greedy algorithms which use only function evaluations are applied to convex optimization in a general Banach space $X$. Along with algorithms that use exact evaluations, algorithms with approximate evaluations are treated. A priori upper bounds for the convergence rate of the proposed algorithms are given. These bounds depend on the smoothness of the objective function and the sparsity or compressibility (with respect to a given dictionary) of a point in $X$ where the minimum is attained.

Robust SVM Optimization in Banach spaces

2022-02-17 · Mohammed Sbihi, Nicolas Couellan

We address the issue of binary classification in Banach spaces in presence of uncertainty. We show that a number of results from classical support vector machines theory can be appropriately generalised to their robust c…

Chebushev Greedy Algorithm in convex optimization

2013-12-04 · Vladimir Temlyakov

Chebyshev Greedy Algorithm is a generalization of the well known Orthogonal Matching Pursuit defined in a Hilbert space to the case of Banach spaces. We apply this algorithm for constructing sparse approximate solutions …

Local and Global Uniform Convexity Conditions

2021-02-09 · Thomas Kerdreux, Alexandre d'Aspremont, Sebastian Pokutta

We review various characterizations of uniform convexity and smoothness on norm balls in finite-dimensional spaces and connect results stemming from the geometry of Banach spaces with \textit{scaling inequalities} used i…

When is there a Representer Theorem? Nondifferentiable Regularisers and Banach spaces

2018-04-25 · Kevin Schlegel

We consider a general regularised interpolation problem for learning a parameter vector from data. The well known representer theorem says that under certain conditions on the regulariser there exists a solution in the l…

On finite-dimensional encoding/decoding theorems for neural operators

2026-01-20 · Vinícius Luz Oliveira, Vladimir G. Pestov arxiv

Recently, versions of neural networks with infinite-dimensional affine operators inside the computational units (``neural operator'' networks) have been applied to learn solutions to differential equations. To enable pra…
