GhostObjects: Instructing Robots by Manipulating Spatially Aligned Virtual Twins in Augmented Reality

2025-08-14 · Lauren W. Wang, Parastoo Abtahi arxiv

Robots are increasingly capable of autonomous operations, yet human interaction remains essential for issuing personalized instructions. Instead of directly controlling robots through Programming by Demonstration (PbD) or teleoperation, we propose giving instructions by interacting with GhostObjects-world-aligned, life-size virtual twins of physical objects-in augmented reality (AR). By direct manipulation of GhostObjects, users can precisely specify physical goals and spatial parameters, with features including real-world lasso selection of multiple objects and snapping back to default positions, enabling tasks beyond simple pick-and-place.

Virtual Traffic Lights for Multi-Robot Navigation: Decentralized Planning with Centralized Conflict Resolution

2025-11-11 · Sagar Gupta, Thanh Vinh Nguyen, Thieu Long Phan, Vidul Attri 외 arxiv

We present a hybrid multi-robot coordination framework that combines decentralized path planning with centralized conflict resolution. In our approach, each robot autonomously plans its path and shares this information w…

Emergency Stopping for Liquid-manipulating Robots

2026-04-17 · Samuli Hynninen, Ville Kyrki arxiv

Manipulating open liquid containers is challenging because liquids are highly sensitive to vessel accelerations and jerks. Although spill-free liquid manipulation has been widely studied, emergency stopping under unexpec…

How Should We Teach Robots? A Comparison of Kinesthetic, Joystick, and Gesture-Based Teaching

2026-05-27 · Petr Vanc, Jan Kristof Behrens, Václav Hlaváč, Karla Stepanova arxiv

Instructing robots from demonstrations can be done through different teaching modalities, each with different usability and performance trade-offs. This paper compares kinesthetic guidance, joystick teleoperation, and ha…

Command-Driven Articulated Object Understanding and Manipulation

2023-01-01 · CVPR 2023 1 · Ruihang Chu, Zhengzhe Liu, Xiaoqing Ye, Xiao Tan 외

We present Cart, a new approach towards articulated-object manipulations by human commands. Beyond the existing work that focuses on inferring articulation structures, we further support manipulating articulated shap…
