Image Completion for View Synthesis Using Markov Random Fields and Efficient Belief Propagation

2014-06-24 · Julian Habigt, Klaus Diepold

View synthesis is a process for generating novel views from a scene which has been recorded with a 3-D camera setup. It has important applications in 3-D post-production and 2-D to 3-D conversion. However, a central problem in the generation of novel views lies in the handling of disocclusions. Background content, which was occluded in the original view, may become unveiled in the synthesized view. This leads to missing information in the generated view which has to be filled in a visually plausible manner. We present an inpainting algorithm for disocclusion filling in synthesized views based on Markov random fields and efficient belief propagation. We compare the result to two state-of-the-art algorithms and demonstrate a significant improvement in image quality.

Novel View Synthesis with Diffusion Models

2022-10-06 · Daniel Watson, William Chan, Ricardo Martin-Brualla, Jonathan Ho 외

We present 3DiM, a diffusion model for 3D novel view synthesis, which is able to translate a single input view into consistent and sharp completions across many views. The core component of 3DiM is a pose-conditional ima…

InfiniCity: Infinite-Scale City Synthesis

2023-01-23 · ICCV 2023 1 · Chieh Hubert Lin, Hsin-Ying Lee, Willi Menapace, Menglei Chai 외

Toward infinite-scale 3D city synthesis, we propose a novel framework, InfiniCity, which constructs and renders an unconstrainedly large and 3D-grounded environment from random noises. InfiniCity decomposes the seemingly…

SceneCompleter: Dense 3D Scene Completion for Generative Novel View Synthesis

2025-06-12 · Weiliang Chen, Jiayi Bi, Yuanhui Huang, Wenzhao Zheng 외

Generative models have gained significant attention in novel view synthesis (NVS) by alleviating the reliance on dense multi-view captures. However, existing methods typically fall into a conventional paradigm, where gen…

Combining Markov Random Fields and Convolutional Neural Networks for Image Synthesis

2016-01-18 · CVPR 2016 6 · Chuan Li, Michael Wand

This paper studies a combination of generative Markov random field (MRF) models and discriminatively trained deep convolutional neural networks (dCNNs) for synthesizing 2D images. The generative MRF acts on higher-levels…

CompNVS: Novel View Synthesis with Scene Completion

2022-07-23 · Zuoyue Li, Tianxing Fan, Zhenqiang Li, Zhaopeng Cui 외

We introduce a scalable framework for novel view synthesis from RGB-D images with largely incomplete scene coverage. While generative neural approaches have demonstrated spectacular results on 2D images, they have not ye…
