Incorporating Damped Harmonic Oscillator in DSGE Models
This paper integrates the damped harmonic oscillator into DSGE models to better capture delayed economic adjustments. By introducing a damping coefficient, I model economic recoveries as under-damped, critically damped, or over-damped processes. Numerical simulations illustrate how different damping levels affect recovery speed and stability. This approach enhances DSGE models' realism, offering insights into historical economic crises and improving macroeconomic forecasting.

Extracting Dynamical Models from Data
The problem of determining the underlying dynamics of a system when only given data of its state over time has challenged scientists for decades. In this paper, the approach of using machine learning to model the updates…
Numerical IntegrationUncertainty QuantificationConstants of Motion for Conserved and Non-conserved Dynamics
This paper begins with a dynamical model that was obtained by applying a machine learning technique (FJet) to time-series data; this dynamical model is then analyzed with Lie symmetry techniques to obtain constants of mo…
Time SeriesOscillators Are All You Need: Irregular Time Series Modelling via Damped Harmonic Oscillators with Closed-Form Solutions
Transformers excel at time series modelling through attention mechanisms that capture long-term temporal patterns. However, they assume uniform time intervals and therefore struggle with irregular time series. Neural Ord…
Non-separable Covariance Kernels for Spatiotemporal Gaussian Processes based on a Hybrid Spectral Method and the Harmonic Oscillator
Gaussian processes provide a flexible, non-parametric framework for the approximation of functions in high-dimensional spaces. The covariance kernel is the main engine of Gaussian processes, incorporating correlations th…
Computational EfficiencyGaussian ProcessesComment on "Machine learning conservation laws from differential equations"
The paper [1] by Liu, Madhavan, and Tegmark sought to use machine learning methods to elicit known conservation laws for several systems. However, in their example of a damped 1D harmonic oscillator they made seven serio…
