Intrinsic dynamical fluctuations of PNS myelin
The ultrastructure fluctuations and complex dynamics of the multi-layered membrane structure of myelin are fundamental for understanding and control its formation process and its degeneration and repair in neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). Myelin is considered a liquid-crystal but information are confined to its average structure due to limitations of the available standard techniques. To overcome this limitation in this work we have used Scanning micro X-ray Diffraction (S{\mu}XRD) which is a unique non-invasive probe of both k-space and real space allowing to visualize disorder in myelin with high spatial resolution in real space. We have used this method to examine the myelin sheath in the sciatic nerve of Xenopus laevis. Our results open could open new venues for understanding formation and degradation of myelin.

Unresolved excess accumulation of myelin-derived cholesterol contributes to scar formation after spinal cord injury
Background: Spinal cord injury triggers complex pathological cascades, resulting in destructive tissue damage and incomplete tissue repair. Scar formation is generally considered as a barrier for regeneration in central …
RP-CARS reveals molecular spatial order anomalies in myelin of an animal model of Krabbe disease
Krabbe disease (KD) is a rare demyelinating sphingolipidosis, often fatal in the first years of life. It is caused by the inactivation of the galactocerebrosidase (GALC) enzyme that causes an increase in the cellular lev…
The signal synchronization function of myelin
The myelinated axons are widely present in both central and peripheral nervous systems. Its unique compact spiraling structure poses significant challenges to understanding its biological functions and developmental mech…
Learning Myelin Content in Multiple Sclerosis from Multimodal MRI through Adversarial Training
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS). A reliable measure of the tissue myelin content is therefore essential for the understanding of the physiopathology of MS, tracking …
ManagementgACSON software for automated segmentation and morphology analyses of myelinated axons in 3D electron microscopy
Background and Objective: Advances in electron microscopy (EM) now allow three-dimensional (3D) imaging of hundreds of micrometers of tissue with nanometer-scale resolution, providing new opportunities to study the ultra…
