Methods and Tools for Monitoring Driver's Behavior
In-vehicle sensing technology has gained tremendous attention due to its ability to support major technological developments, such as connected vehicles and self-driving cars. In-vehicle sensing data are invaluable and important data sources for traffic management systems. In this paper we propose an innovative architecture of unobtrusive in-vehicle sensors and present methods and tools that are used to measure the behavior of drivers. The proposed architecture including methods and tools are used in our NIH project to monitor and identify older drivers with early dementia

Vision-language Models for Driver Monitoring Systems: A Driver Activity Description Dataset
Understanding subtle driver actions is essential for building reliable driver monitoring systems. Existing visionlanguage models (VLMs) are trained on general datasets and struggle to recognize fine distinctions in drive…
The Multimodal Driver Monitoring Database: A Naturalistic Corpus to Study Driver Attention
A smart vehicle should be able to monitor the actions and behaviors of the human driver to provide critical warnings or intervene when necessary. Recent advancements in deep learning and computer vision have shown great …
Driver Drowsiness Classification Based on Eye Blink and Head Movement Features Using the k-NN Algorithm
Modern advanced driver-assistance systems analyze the driving performance to gather information about the driver's state. Such systems are able, for example, to detect signs of drowsiness by evaluating the steering or la…
feature selectionAn Overview and Evaluation of Various Face and Eyes Detection Algorithms for Driver Fatigue Monitoring Systems
In this work various methods and algorithms for face and eyes detection are examined in order to decide which of them are applicable for use in a driver fatigue monitoring system. In the case of face detection the standa…
Face DetectionReal-Time Monitoring and Driver Feedback to Promote Fuel Efficient Driving
Improving the fuel efficiency of vehicles is imperative to reduce costs and protect the environment. While the efficient engine and vehicle designs, as well as intelligent route planning, are well-known solutions to enha…
