SepicNet: Sharp Edges Recovery by Parametric Inference of Curves in 3D Shapes

2023-04-13 · Kseniya Cherenkova, Elona Dupont, Anis Kacem, Ilya Arzhannikov, Gleb Gusev, Djamila Aouada

3D scanning as a technique to digitize objects in reality and create their 3D models, is used in many fields and areas. Though the quality of 3D scans depends on the technical characteristics of the 3D scanner, the common drawback is the smoothing of fine details, or the edges of an object. We introduce SepicNet, a novel deep network for the detection and parametrization of sharp edges in 3D shapes as primitive curves. To make the network end-to-end trainable, we formulate the curve fitting in a differentiable manner. We develop an adaptive point cloud sampling technique that captures the sharp features better than uniform sampling. The experiments were conducted on a newly introduced large-scale dataset of 50k 3D scans, where the sharp edge annotations were extracted from their parametric CAD models, and demonstrate significant improvement over state-of-the-art methods.

Information Limits for Detecting a Subhypergraph

2021-05-05 · Mingao Yuan, Zuofeng Shang

We consider the problem of recovering a subhypergraph based on an observed adjacency tensor corresponding to a uniform hypergraph. The uniform hypergraph is assumed to contain a subset of vertices called as subhypergraph…

Edge-preserving Near-light Photometric Stereo with Neural Surfaces

2022-07-11 · Heng Guo, Hiroaki Santo, Boxin Shi, Yasuyuki Matsushita

This paper presents a near-light photometric stereo method that faithfully preserves sharp depth edges in the 3D reconstruction. Unlike previous methods that rely on finite differentiation for approximating depth partial…

PIE-NET: Parametric Inference of Point Cloud Edges

2020-07-09 · NeurIPS 2020 12 · Xiaogang Wang, Yuelang Xu, Kai Xu, Andrea Tagliasacchi 외

We introduce an end-to-end learnable technique to robustly identify feature edges in 3D point cloud data. We represent these edges as a collection of parametric curves (i.e.,lines, circles, and B-splines). Accordingly, o…

Exact recovery and sharp thresholds of Stochastic Ising Block Model

2020-04-13 · Min Ye

The stochastic block model (SBM) is a random graph model in which the edges are generated according to the underlying cluster structure on the vertices. The (ferromagnetic) Ising model, on the other hand, assigns $\pm 1$…

Does robustness imply tractability? A lower bound for planted clique in the semi-random model

2017-04-17 · Jacob Steinhardt

We consider a robust analog of the planted clique problem. In this analog, a set $S$ of vertices is chosen and all edges in $S$ are included; then, edges between $S$ and the rest of the graph are included with probabilit…
