Vector copulas

2020-09-14 · Yanqin Fan, Marc Henry

This paper introduces vector copulas associated with multivariate distributions with given multivariate marginals, based on the theory of measure transportation, and establishes a vector version of Sklar's theorem. The latter provides a theoretical justification for the use of vector copulas to characterize nonlinear or rank dependence between a finite number of random vectors (robust to within vector dependence), and to construct multivariate distributions with any given non overlapping multivariate marginals. We construct Elliptical and Kendall families of vector copulas, derive their densities, and present algorithms to generate data from them. The use of vector copulas is illustrated with a stylized analysis of international financial contagion.

The checkerboard copula and dependence concepts

2024-04-23 · Liyuan Lin, Ruodu Wang, Ruixun Zhang, Chaoyi Zhao

We study the problem of choosing the copula when the marginal distributions of a random vector are not all continuous. Inspired by four motivating examples including simulation from copulas, stress scenarios, co-risk mea…

Data driven partition-of-unity copulas with applications to risk management

2017-03-15 · Dietmar Pfeifer, Andreas Mändle, Olena Ragulina

We present a constructive and self-contained approach to data driven general partition-of-unity copulas that were recently introduced in the literature. In particular, we consider Bernstein-, negative binomial and Poisso…

New copulas based on general partitions-of-unity and their applications to risk management

2019-01-18

We construct new multivariate copulas on the basis of a generalized infinite partition-of-unity approach. This approach allows - in contrast to finite partition-of-unity copulas - for tail-dependence as well as for asymm…

Deep Archimedean Copulas

2020-12-05 · NeurIPS 2020 12 · Chun Kai Ling, Fei Fang, J. Zico Kolter

A central problem in machine learning and statistics is to model joint densities of random variables from data. Copulas are joint cumulative distribution functions with uniform marginal distributions and are used to capt…

Portfolio optimization based on forecasting models using vine copulas: An empirical assessment for the financial crisis

2019-12-21 · Maziar Sahamkhadam, Andreas Stephan

We employ and examine vine copulas in modeling symmetric and asymmetric dependency structures and forecasting financial returns. We analyze the asset allocations performed during the 2008-2009 financial crisis and test d…
