A Dictionary Based Approach for Removing Out-of-Focus Blur

2024-06-17 · Uditangshu Aurangabadkar, Anil Kokaram

The field of image deblurring has seen tremendous progress with the rise of deep learning models. These models, albeit efficient, are computationally expensive and energy consuming. Dictionary based learning approaches have shown promising results in image denoising and Single Image Super-Resolution. We propose an extension of the Rapid and Accurate Image Super-Resolution (RAISR) algorithm introduced by Isidoro, Romano and Milanfar for the task of out-of-focus blur removal. We define a sharpness quality measure which aligns well with the perceptual quality of an image. A metric based blending strategy based on asset allocation management is also proposed. Our method demonstrates an average increase of approximately 13% (PSNR) and 10% (SSIM) compared to popular deblurring methods. Furthermore, our blending scheme curtails ringing artefacts post restoration.

Multi-Focus Image Fusion Using Sparse Representation and Coupled Dictionary Learning

2017-05-30 · Farshad G. Veshki, Sergiy A. Vorobyov

We address the multi-focus image fusion problem, where multiple images captured with different focal settings are to be fused into an all-in-focus image of higher quality. Algorithms for this problem necessarily admit th…

Removing out-of-focus blur from a single image

2018-08-28 · Guodong Xu, Chaoqiang Liu, Hui Ji

Reproducing an all-in-focus image from an image with defocus regions is of practical value in many applications, eg, digital photography, and robotics. Using the output of some existing defocus map estimator, existing ap…

Gaussian Kernel Mixture Network for Single Image Defocus Deblurring

A Sharpness Based Loss Function for Removing Out-of-Focus Blur

2024-08-12 · Uditangshu Aurangabadkar, Darren Ramsook, Anil Kokaram

The success of modern Deep Neural Network (DNN) approaches can be attributed to the use of complex optimization criteria beyond standard losses such as mean absolute error (MAE) or mean squared error (MSE). In this work,…
