Morpheus: A Deep Learning Framework For Pixel-Level Analysis of Astronomical Image Data

2019-06-26 · Ryan Hausen, Brant Robertson

We present Morpheus, a new model for generating pixel-level morphological classifications of astronomical sources. Morpheus leverages advances in deep learning to perform source detection, source segmentation, and morphological classification pixel-by-pixel via a semantic segmentation algorithm adopted from the field of computer vision. By utilizing morphological information about the flux of real astronomical sources during object detection, Morpheus shows resiliency to false-positive identifications of sources. We evaluate Morpheus by performing source detection, source segmentation, morphological classification on the Hubble Space Telescope data in the five CANDELS fields with a focus on the GOODS South field, and demonstrate a high completeness in recovering known GOODS South 3D-HST sources with H < 26 AB. We release the code publicly, provide online demonstrations, and present an interactive visualization of the Morpheus results in GOODS South.

Statistical Inference for Coadded Astronomical Images

2022-11-17 · Mallory Wang, Ismael Mendoza, Cheng Wang, Camille Avestruz 외

Coadded astronomical images are created by stacking multiple single-exposure images. Because coadded images are smaller in terms of data size than the single-exposure images they summarize, loading and processing them is…

Masked Omics Modeling for Multimodal Representation Learning across Histopathology and Molecular Profiles

2025-08-01 · Lucas Robinet, Ahmad Berjaoui, Elizabeth Cohen-Jonathan Moyal arxiv

Self-supervised learning (SSL) has driven major advances in computational pathology by enabling the learning of rich representations from histopathology data. Yet, tissue analysis alone may fall short in capturing broade…

Morpheus: A Neural Network for Jointly Learning Contextual Lemmatization and Morphological Tagging

2019-08-01 · WS 2019 8 · Eray Yildiz, A. C{\"u}neyd Tantu{\u{g}}

In this study, we present Morpheus, a joint contextual lemmatizer and morphological tagger. Morpheus is based on a neural sequential architecture where inputs are the characters of the surface words in a sentence and the…

Morpheus: A Morphology-Aware Neural Tokenizer and Word Embedder for Turkish

2026-06-17 · Tolga Şakar arxiv

Turkish is agglutinative: meaning is carried by morphemes, yet the subword tokenizers that drive modern language models split words by corpus statistics, fragmenting semantically loaded suffixes and -- in the case of Wor…

Transformer-Based Neural Network for Transient Detection without Image Subtraction

2025-08-22 · Adi Inada, Masao Sako, Tatiana Acero-Cuellar, Federica Bianco arxiv

We introduce a transformer-based neural network for the accurate classification of real and bogus transient detections in astronomical images. This network advances beyond the conventional convolutional neural network (C…
